WOMEN'S RUGBY KIT
Are you thinking of trying out women’s rugby for the first time and aren’t quite sure where to start with kit? Then let us help you out. Like most sports, you’ll need a few essentials to get started. We have put together a rough guide of the core items that you may need when attending your training session. Why not send this checklist to new members of your club and help them out a bit, or even circulate it in your team group chat? We all know that new stash day is the best kind of day!
1 - Rugby Boots
Let’s start off with the most important bit of kit – footwear. Rugby is an outdoor sport with most matches being played in the winter months, so a sturdy pair of boots is vital. You can pick up a decent pair of boots at a reasonable price in most sport shops. Prices often start from around £35. You have the choice of studded boots or moulded boots: studs are typically for winter weather, whereas moulded boots (or mouldies) are for warmer, dryer weather.
TOP TIP: If you’re not sure that rugby is the sport for you and you just want to have a taster session but aren’t ready to buy all the kit, then drop your rugby club a message. In most cases, players will have a spare pair of boots for you to train in, and this can often be a great filler until you decide to buy your own pair.
2 - Rugby shorts
You’ve come to the right place! We make rugby shorts specifically for women, and we don’t just mean ones that look good – they also feel good.
Here you have a few options:
If you prefer something with a longer fit, we recommend going for our Tomboy fit.
If you like something that scoops in at the back and is a little shorter, you could go for the Stadium Short in a Femme fit. These shorts still feature our classic wide lay-flat waist but are cut a little shorter.
3 - Training Tops
In most training sessions, you are usually free to wear whatever kit you are comfortable in – and you’ve certainly come to the right place, because we specialise in clothes that work for you.
In the winter months, it can get really cold out on that field. We would recommend layering up and putting on one of our hoodies under your waterproof.
4 - Mouthguard
Due to the contact nature of rugby, a high-quality mouthguard is essential. You might not need one of these straight away, but you will need to have one ready for matches. Check out our range of mouthguards:
5 - A good sports bra
Women’s rugby is an impact sport, therefore it’s important that you have a supportive sports bra. Most athletic brands retail sports bras and we have found it’s all about finding the one that suits you best. Don’t be afraid to shop around on this one, but trust us when we say it’ll be worth it.

Scrunchie
Everyone loves a good scrunchie! We have you covered with our adorable rugby-themed scrunchies:
Towels
Whatever the session throws at you, a towel will always come in handy. Check out our range of microfibre blend towels below.
Scrumcap
A scrumcap is a piece of headgear which is worn by players who want a little bit of extra protection. This bit of kit was traditionally only used by forwards to protect their ears in a scrum, but now most players can be seen wearing one. These can also be picked up at most sports stores.
Water Bottle
Nothing beats the feel of a cold sip of water after a hard session. Our sports water bottles are fully insulated to keep your drinks at the temperature you want them, for longer.
